Naomi E. (Skelton) Wilkins of Newburgh
Naomi E. (Skelton) Wilkins, 89, passed away Monday, April 9, 2012, at
Newburgh Health Care. She was born September 28, 1922, in Skelton Township,
Warrick County, to Lester J. and Irene (Gowen) Skelton.
Naomi was an original member of Newburgh United Methodist Church and of
the Friendship Chapter #32 Eastern Star. She graduated from Newburgh High in
1940, from Devry Beauty School in 1941, and then opened a beauty shop and
operated it with her husband, William, for some 45 years. Naomi was a super mom
and grandma.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" E. Wilkins, in 2001;
her parents; grandson, Jonathan; sister, Norma Jean (Young) Jackson; and sister-in-
law, Betty Lawrence.
Naomi is survived by her son, Mike Wilkins (Ellen); daughter, Lisa Dawn
Gipson; grandchildren, Donovan Wilkins, Michael Kopp, Laura Devin Willis, Larisa
Negron; 7 great grandchildren; brother-in-law and sister-in law, George and Rexanna
Wilkins.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, April 13, 2012, at Newburgh
United Methodist Church, Rev. Todd Gile will officiate and burial will follow at Skelton
Cemetery, Warrick County.
Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, at Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Simpson
Chapel, 510 W. Jennings St, Newburgh, Ind. (812) 853-8314, with an Eastern Star
service at 7 p.m. Additional visitation is 9 a.m. to service time, Friday, at the church.
