Evansville

Nathan “Nate” Wayne Davenport, 48, of Evansville, IN, passed away on August 21, 2024, at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, following a motorcycle accident. He was surrounded by his loving family in his final moments.

Born on May 10, 1976, in Evansville, Nate was the beloved son of Glenna Renshaw and Larry Davenport. He found fulfillment in a dedicated career in the trucking industry and drew strength from his deep faith in God. Nate cherished the time he spent with his family and friends and took great pride in the miles he logged on the open road, traveling the country in his big rig.

Nate was preceded in death by his mother, Glenna Renshaw; his father, Larry Davenport; his aunt, Janice Davenport; his uncle, Rick Davenport; and his brother-in-law, Cody Hopkins. He is survived by his seven children: Damien Davenport, Samantha "Sami" Neal, Jonathan "Jon" Wulff, Taylor Rustin, Kevyn Mogel, Hunter Davenport, and Lily Hilderbrandt; and his two bonus children Heaven and Dalton Hilderbrandt. He also leaves behind his sisters, Shawna Hopkins and Twana Howell (Davenport); his brother, Michael “Mike” Davenport and sister-in-law Teresa Schmitt; as well as his nieces and nephews: Lexie, Cody, Jordan, Dillon, Ethan and Zach.

Nate's life was dedicated to his children. He overcame many obstacles throughout his life to become the best man he could be. Those who knew him will remember his ability to make friends with anyone, bring laughter to those in need, and his relentless pursuit of freedom.

The day before the accident, Nate spent his time off helping out his fellow coworkers at Bluegrass, taking his two youngest children back-to-school shopping, and enjoying a variety of meaningful conversations while visiting with other friends and family. One person recalls Nate saying before he left their house, "This is the best day I've had in a long time; I wish there were more to come!"

A visitation will be held at Titzer Family Funeral Homes’ Meyer Chapel on August 27, 2024, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m., with a funeral service beginning at 3 p.m.

Memorial contributions in Nate’s memory may be made directly to his daughter, Samantha Neal, or to Titzer Family Funeral Homes in Evansville. All arrangements made in the care of Titzer Family Funeral Homes.
