Nellie Pearl (Babb) Courtney, 92, of Evansville, went to be in the arms of her
Heavenly Father on Thursday, July 22, 2010 at Deaconess Hospice Care
Center. She was born, June 17, 1918 in Union County, KY, near
Morganfield, KY. She was a member of New Bethel Southern Baptist Church
for over 50 years.
Nellie was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Courtney, Sr.;
parents, Barney and Mary (Floyd) Babb; daughter, Phyllis Ann Courtney;
sister, Stella Sparks; brothers, Cecil & John Babb.
She is survived by her son, Harry Eugene Courtney (Gladys) of
Mesquite, TX; daughters, Loretta Courtney Riddle, Peggy Jean Brown of
Evansville; grandchildren, James Riddle (Crissy) of Gallatin, TN, Jerry Riddle
(Hyas) of Gilbert, AZ, Steve Brown (Beth) of Evansville, Janet Remling (Rich)
and Jackie Hawthorne of Evansville, Tanya McArthur (Mike) of Cheboygan,
MI, Alisa Courtney of Commerce, TX, Gregory Courtney of Mesquite, TX; 22
great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mary Cottingham,
Juanita Heflin; 1 brother, Hubert
Babb all of Evansville; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was the
oldest member of her family.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, July 26, 2010 at
Titzer Family Funeral Homes ~ Miller & Miller Colonial Chapel, 100 E.
Columbia St. Evansville, IN (812) 424-9274 with Reverend Matt Gapinski
officiating. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Morganfield, KY.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.
