Nieva Pontaoe Schapker

Nieva Pontaoe Schapker, 63, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at her home in Newburgh, IN.  She was born in Dagupan City, Philippines on January 15, 1957 to Alejandro Garcia and Adoracion (Roy) Pontaoe.  She graduated from Indiana State University with a BS in Biology and a BS in History.  She worked for FC Tucker Realtors.  She was an active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in Newburgh, IN.

She is survived by her husband, Anthony L. Schapker, MD; daughters, Heidi Schapker Tirb (George M. Tirb), Liesl B. Schapker (Ananth Pandian); son, Peter A. Schapker (Molly McLaughlin); father, Alejandro G. Pontaoe; brothers, Alejandro Pontaoe, Jr. (Shera), Sheldon Pontaoe (Eileen); sister, P. Dulce Walker (David); grandchildren, Ava I. and Liam E. Finucane, and Gabriella M. Schapker; nieces, Alexandra Pontaoe, Caroline Pontaoe and Kaitlan Oliver; nephews, Christian Pontaoe and Ian Walker.

Nieva was preceded in death by her mother, Adoracion R. Pontaoe.

Memorial contributions, in memory of Nieva, may be made to the American Cancer Society.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, March 2, 2020 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 625 Frame Rd., Newburgh, IN, with entombment at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday, March 1, with a Rosary at 6 p.m. at Titzer Family Funeral Homes~Simpson Chapel, 510 W.
