Opal Olivia Ours Susott, 89, of Elberfeld, IN, was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 5, 2018 surrounded by her daughter and caregiver, Karen and great-grandchild, Austin at Woodmont Health Campus in Boonville.
Opal was born in Evansville on December 28, 1928 to Richard and Ethel Kell Ours. She married the love of her life, Wilbern A. Susott on January 29, 1944 and together celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in 2014.
Opal loved being a stay at home mother caring for her children and helping her husband operating the family farm. She always welcomed everyone to her home for a home cooked meal, a cup of coffee, and a game of cards or dominoes.
Opal was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilbern A. Susott; and youngest son, Jimmy W. Susott.
Opal is survived by her daughters, Karen S. Hughes, Linda L. Ball (Jay); sons, Steven R. Susott (Marsha), Gary L. Susott, Glen A. Susott (Judy), and daughter-in-law, Theresa (Jimmy) Susott; grandchildren, Christina L. Schmits, Michael J. Schmits (Danyelle), Debra S. Smith (Ed), Lori A. Ball, Scot Susott (Anita), Jason A. Susott, Montana W. Susott; great-grandchildren, Austin, Shawn, Michael, and Steven Smith, Heather Minnis (Kevin), Jennifer Ritz (Colton), Matthew Smith, Dalton and Timothy Schmits, Andrew J. Ball, Cecilia and Cory Susott; great-great grandchildren, Alexia and Aubrey Minnis, Brandon Ritz, Zachary Smith, Andrew Ball. Special life-long friends, Herman and Martha Denstorff, Jim and Pat Freels, Jim Smith (Ruth), Richard Smith, Nellie DeShazer, and so many more.
A special thanks to the staff at Woodmont Health Campus for their dedicated years of love and care in making their facility a second home and Heart to Heart Hospice for making Opal's ending moments peaceful.
A Funeral Service will be 3 p.m., Monday, April 9, 2018 at Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Volkman Chapel, 2nd & Elm Sts., Elberfeld, IN, (812) 983-4211, with burial in Susott Cemetery on Seven Hills Rd., Elberfeld.
