Opal Irene Pruitt

Opal Irene Pruitt, age 100, formerly of Elberfeld, IN, Passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Brookdale Tavares Assisted living. She was born on October 15, 1922, the only child of Raymond and Ova (Barton) Pruitt. There are no survivors. 

Opal received her elementary education at Barton school and graduated from Elberfeld High School in 1939. Her plans to pursue a degree in music were halted by the start of WWII. She was employed by Bucyrus Erie then worked at Mead Johnson and Co. for 22 years. 

In 1971 she retired and relocated to Miami, FL where she went to work at the University of Miami School of Medicine as Administrator of the Department of Neurosurgery. 
In 1991 she relocated to Tavares, FL where she left her earthly home.

Local arrangements are with Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Volkman Chapel, 2nd and Elm St, Elberfeld, IN 47613 on April 18, 2023, with burial in Barnette Chapel Cemetery.
