Oscar Loveless, 89, of Elberfeld, passed
away Sunday, April 27, 2008, at
Select Specialty Hospital. He was born on
September 6, 1918, to Casper and
Almyra Loveless. He married Bonnie
Richardson on June 27, 1948.
During the Depression he worked with the
Civilian Conservation Corps in
Pike County.
He was a proud veteran of WWII serving in
the European Theater from 1942 to
1945 with the 116th Signal Radio
Intelligence Company. He was a member of
the American Legion Post 351 for over 61
years. He retired from the
Elberfeld Block Company in 1985. He
enjoyed fishing, reading Westerns, and
working jigsaw puzzles. He was known for
innovative mechanical solutions.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57
years Bonnie, sisters, Anne
Butcher, Grace McKinney, Helen
Engelhardt, and Alice Kuhlenschmidt, and
son-in-law Larry Springer.
Mr. Loveless is survived by his sons, Andy
Loveless and wife, Fran of
Elberfeld, Oscar Ray Loveless and his wife,
Carol of LaPorte, Indiana;
daughters, Nancy Springer of Wadesville,
and Myra Rager and her husband,
Terry of St. Phillip; grandsons, Phil Loveless
and wife, Stephanie of
Central, SC, Jeremy Loveless of LaPorte,
and Adam Rager of St. Phillip;
granddaughters, Wanda Loveless of
LaPorte, and April Daniel and her
husband, Derek of Hatfield; two great-
grandson, Xander Loveless and Noah
Daniel; brothers, Bob Loveless and his
wife, Edna of Petersburg; and
sister, Wilma Reiger and her husband,
Dave of Pembroke, Ky.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m.
Thursday, May 1, 2008, Zion United
Church of Christ. Pastor Steve Oeth will
officiate with burial following
at Northview Cemetery in Elberfeld with
military rites by the American
Legion.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.,
