Owen Earl Jeff' Jeffries, 79, of Newburgh, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2011, at
Cypress Grove Rehabilitation Center after a lengthy illness. He was preceded in
death by his mother and father, Lillian and Roy Jeffries and his sister, Emma Jean
Opperman.
Jeff served for four years in the United States Army. He retired from the Evansville
Vanderburgh School Corporation. He was a lifetime member of the VFW 1114 and a
member of the American Legion Kapperman Post 44.
He enjoyed taking long walks and he especially enjoyed picnic lunches by the Old
Dam Park and watching boats and barges on the river. He also enjoyed daily visits to
the Newburgh Senior Center where he talked and joked with other seniors and rode
the stationary bike.
Jeff is survived by his family, of which he was always very proud: his wife of 56 years,
Aileen; sons, Joe of Evansville, Jerry (Vickie) of Darmstadt; grandchildren, Jessica
(Carl) Arnheiter of New York City, Jared of Chicago, and Justin Jeffries; and his
nieces, nephews and cousins.
His family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff of Cypress Grove in
appreciation of their wonderful care of Jeff.
Services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at Titzer Family Funeral
Homes ~ Simpson Chapel, 510 W. Jennings St. Newburgh, IN, officiated by
Reverend Dan Kennedy and burial in Bates Hill Cemetery with military graveside rites
conducted by the American Legion Kapperman Post Honor Guard. Visitation will be
held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.

Senior Citizens Center.
