Peggy Ann Simmons

Peggy Ann Simmons, 72, of Evansville IN passed away on Sunday, June 16th, 2024. Peggy was a beloved mother and grandmother, who loved spending time with her large family and loved good food. She will always be remembered as a warm-hearted, funny, and kind person.

Peggy was born in Princeton, IN on May the 29th, 1952. She was adopted and raised by her loving grandparents, Porter and Clestie Choate. She was blessed with many brothers and sisters. Peggy went on after high school to work a long and fulfilling career as a nurse’s aide, and also began a large family of her own.

Peggy was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Porter and Clestie; her birth mother, Mary Bates; and her brothers Porter Wayne Choate, James Arthur Choate, and Sam Bates.

Peggy is survived by her children Angela Thompson, Michael Thompson, Robert R. (Roxanne) Birdwell Jr, Eric (Felicia) Smith, and Virginia Goodmon; grandchildren Ashley, Justin, Zachary, Abigail, Jessica, Wesley, Dalton, Tyler, Dylan, Christopher, Austin, and Haley; many great-grandchildren; siblings Charlie, Joanne, Bill, Robbie, Mary and Tommy; special friend Alice; and her adored pup, Chewy.

A memorial service for Peggy will be arranged at a later date, and burial will be at a later time with family.
