Richard (Dick) Kendrick Branaman, 85, of Newburgh, Ind., formerly of Washington, Ind., passed away April 7, 2015, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital. He was born February 10, 1930, in Washington to the late Vera (Terrel) Branaman and Harry Wells Branaman. For most of his life Richard worked in banking in Washington, Plainville, and Petersburg. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Evansville where he served on the Administrative Council. He loved working in his vegetable garden and following his favorite sports teams, the St. Louis Cardinals, Indianapolis Colts, IU Hoosiers, and the Washington Hatchets. Richard graduated from Washington High School in 1948 and attended Hanover College. Richard was preceded in death by his loving wife, Patty (Graber); brother, Hugh Branaman; sisters, Jean Wonder and Barbara Frye; and twin grandsons. He is survived by his three daughters, Kathy Arnold (Denny), Vicky Shelby, Tammy Craig (Ron); six grandchildren, Melissa Arnold Frary (Adam), Kristen Arnold, Kevin Arnold, Allyson Shelby Claybourn (Joshua), Samantha Craig, Alexa Craig; five great-grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth Mangin of Louisville, KY; and brother, Harry Branaman, Jr. (Irble) of Mobile, AL. Richard will be laid to rest beside his wife after a private graveside service in Sugarland Memory Gardens, Washington, Ind. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation and Trinity United Methodist Church of Evansville.
