Robert "Bob" Schmidt, 86, of Newburgh, Ind., passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2019 peacefully surrounded by family.  He was born September 4, 1932 in Newburgh to the late George and Clara (Brumley) Schmidt.  Bob was the youngest and last living of 12 siblings.

Bob loved to garden and shared the fruits of his labor with family and friends.  Although he had no children of his own, he was instrumental in the upbringing of 3 generations of nieces and nephews.  He served in the United States Air Force, in Germany and Africa, during the Korean War; then went on to retire from Whirlpool after many years.  He was known by many for his humor and kindness.

A Graveside Service will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery with full military rites.  Deacon Joe Seibert will officiate.  Arrangements are in the care of Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Simpson Chapel, (812) 853-8314.  Sympathy wishes to the family may be shared at www.titzerfuneralhomes.com.
