Robert C. Colvin, M.D. of Evansville, Ind.
Robert C. Colvin, 82, passed away, Wednesday, November 14, 2012, at
Deaconess Hospice Center. He was born August 30, 1930, in Evansville,
to Robert T. and Hester E. (Collison) Colvin, D.D.S.
Robert graduated from Bosse High School, Indiana University and Indiana
University School of Medicine where he was a member of Alpha Omega
Alpha Honor Medical Society. He was active duty with the Public Health
Service from 1955-1958 and served in the USPHS inactive reserve and
achieved the rank of Captain. Robert then ran his general practice of
medicine in Newburgh from 1958-1996.
He married Sara Suzanne (Johnson) Colvin on November 10, 1950, and
she passed on December 27, 2007. He was a member of First Christian
Church where he served as Deacon. Robert was a Kentucky Colonel.
Robert belonged to the Indiana State Medical Association, American
Medical Association, and was a member and past president of Warrick
County Medical Association. He was a member of American Motorcyclist
Association and was a founding member and past president of the
Motorcycling Doctors Association. Robert also belonged to the Academy
of Model Aviation, Evansville Radio Control Model Airplane Club, the
Evansville Astronomical Society, and the Southern Hollow Dulcimer and
Folk Group.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Robert is survived
by his children, Beverly Price (Bruce) of Evansville, Thomas Colvin
(Yolanda) of Nolanville, TX, Timothy Colvin (Natalie) of Newburgh, James
Colvin (Mayra) of Newark, CA; grandchildren, Robert F., Michael A., Katie,
Nicholas, Christopher, Sara, Thomas, Juan; sister, Julia "Tootie" Colvin of
Sarasota, FL.
A funeral service will be held 10 a.m., Monday, November 19, 2012, at
Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Simpson Chapel, 510 W Newburgh, Ind.,
(812) 853-8314, Rev. Mitch Stichler will officiate and burial will follow at
Rose Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m., Sunday and 9 a.m. to service time Monday at
the funeral home.
