Robert (Rob) L. Brannon, Jr., of Evansville, Ind.
Robert (Rob) L. Brannon, Jr., 67, passed away, Thursday, August 23,
2012, at home. He was born March 7, 1945, in New York City, to Robert
Lionel and Elma (Millhouse) Brannon, Sr. He was a proud American with
strength, honor and courage. Rob was an Eagle Scout where he learned
many skills that would later in life benefit him as he served in the United
States Navy as a Lieutenant JG. He was alumni of U of E and a strong
supporter of the U of E basketball team. Rob served 30 years as an FBI
agent, starting his carrier in Denver and finishing his career in his
hometown of Evansville. Rob was a recognized agent with many awards
and much respect throughout the FBI. He was an avid supporter and
member of his church, East Side Christian Church, serving as deacon and
sitting on many boards throughout the years.
Rob had a love for life, he enjoyed bowling, golfing, his lake house in
Kentucky, fishing, playing clabber with his buddies, and he was a member
of the Otters Boosters Club. His favorite place was the FOP Club. Rob
was a world traveler after his retirement.
He never met a stranger. We would like to thank, from the deepest
part of our hearts, many family and friends who supported such a strong
man. A special thanks to Dr. Mark Browning, OHA, their staff, and VNA
Hospice.
Rob is preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Brannon, Sr., and a
sister-in-law, Lu Brannon.
He is survived by his mother, Elma Brannon; his life companion,
Becky Bateman, daughter, Marissa Brannon; brother, Keith Brannon;
grandchildren, Layne Titzer, Dawson and Grace May, Zoie, Grace, Drew
and Parker Bateman; Becky's children: Jason (Erica) Bateman, Jamie
(Kendra) Bateman, Jeremie (Ashley) Bateman; niece, Jaime (Daryl)
Haney; and great nephew, Asher Haney.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Monday, August 27, 2012, at
East Side Christian Church, 2001 Bayard Park Dr., Evansville, Dr. Linda
Parker will officiate, with military burial rites. A graveside service will be 11
a.m., Tuesday at Bridgeport City Cemetery, Bridgeport, IL.
Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m., Sunday, at Titzer Family Funeral Homes,
Simpson Chapel; 510 W Jennings St, Newburgh, Ind. (812) 853-8314, a
FOP Memorial Service will be at 7 p.m. Additional visitation will be 12 p.m.
to service time Monday at the church.
