Shannon David Burns, born January 2.1976 in Gloucester, Massachusetts died peacefully in his sleep from natural causes at his home in Boonville, IN early Friday morning, October 30. 2009. He was just 33 years old. He was a wonderful and loving father, fiancée, son and brother. He graduated from North Shore Vocational & Technical High School and attended North Adams State College. He worked as a cook in several local restaurants in the Salem area. He also worked for several years at the Peabody-Essex museum building display sets. He had been working for D&M construction as a carpenter in Candler, Indiana for the past 6 years at a job that he truly loved. He loved working with his hands. Shannon loved to fish, motorcycles, play his X-Box, paint ball, target practice and enjoyed the simple life. He loved to draw and had a real talent in art. His true love was his son, William. They were inseparable. He was a person that touched many hearts with his love and generosity. If you needed a friend he would be the first one there. He loved his son, girlfriend and her daughter and enjoyed spending time with family. He will be truly missed and kept in our hearts forever. He is survived by a Son, William David Burns; Fiancée, Janice Stefane; Janice's daughter, Katelyn Stefane; parents, Christine & Kevin Burns; Brother & sister-in-law, Ryan & Stephanie Burns; Sister & brother-in-law, Meghan & Todd Mahooty; nephews, Nolan, Connor & Grayson Mahooty; all of Evansville area and grandparents, Marilyn & William Burns of Gloucester; grandmother, Priscilla Sawyer of Gloucester; and many aunts & uncles. He is predeceased by a great grandmother, Viola Kaplin; grandfather, William Sawyer and sister Erinn Burns all of Gloucester. A memorial will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, November 2, 2009, at the Titzer Family Funeral Homes ~ Simpson Chapel 510 W Jennings St, Newburgh, Indiana. A 2nd memorial service will be held in his hometown of Gloucester, MA within the next few weeks. In lieu of flowers, we have set up a fund in his son's name.
