Sharon Marie (Hodgen) Hochstetler, 67, of Evansville, passed away
Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at home.
She was born September 27, 1942 in Alexandria Bay, New York to Harry
and Grace (Siekman) Hodgen. She attended Mackey High School in
Mackey, Indiana then went on to work for the Evansville State Hospital until
retirement. Sharon will be remembered for her gracious generosity, love of
family, and friends. She spent many hours looking through gardening,
cooking, and decorating books, as these were her passion. Sharon enjoyed
going out to eat with her friends, but her most enjoyed role was being a
Grandma to her grandchildren.
Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, son, Ernest E. Schmidt II, and
daughter, Janet M. Hochstetler.
She is survived by her daughters Elizabeth (Schmidt) Lashley and her
husband Charles of Montgomery, IN, Jennifer (Hochstetler) Austill of Oakland
City, four grandchildren, Sarah Wickman, Hannah Austill, Helena Dersch,
Kade Hochstetler, one great granddaughter, Grace Maria, a sibling, Clifford
J Hodgen and his wife Helen, two nieces, Amy VanMatre of Mackey, Diana
Crowe of Aurora, IL, two great nieces and one great nephew.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at Zion Cemetery
in Elberfeld, Rev. Steve Oeth will officiate.
Visitation will be 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday, October 4, 2009 at Titzer Family
Funeral Homes ~ Volkman Chapel, 2nd & Elm Sts., Elberfled (812) 983-
4211.
