Sylvester A. (Tony) Schlageter
Sylvester A. (Tony) Schlageter, 86, of
Evansville, passed away Monday,
November 17, 2008 at Deaconess
Hospital. He was born February 11, 1922 in
Evansville to Francis and Mary Catherine
(Glaser) Schlageter. He was an
army veteran having served in the South
Pacific. He was a member of St.
Joseph Catholic Church. Tony retired from
Whirlpool after 34 years. He
loved deer hunting and fishing. Tony was an
avid nut grower with a variety
of nut trees in his yard and a long time
member of the Indiana Nut
Growers Association. He was a former
member of the Lapidary Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents
and two brothers and one sister.
Tony is survived by his wife of 43 years,
Rosella, four daughters, Carolyn
Hurst, of Evansville, Devonna Stulpa, of
Cameron TX, Mary Lohman and Linda
Lane, both of Evansville, and a step-
daughter, Charlotte Herwig, of St.
Louis, also several grandchildren, great
grandchildren, and great great
grandchildren.
Funeral services will begin at 12:30 p.m.,
Friday, November 21, 2008, at
Titzer Family Funeral Homes ~ Meyer
Chapel, 100 E. Columbia St.,
Evansville, 812-424-9288 continuing with a
Mass of Christian Burial, 1:00
p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 610 E.
Virginia St., Evansville. Rev.
Fr. Alex Zenthoefer will officiate. Burial will
be in St. Joseph Cemetery
with military rites conducted by the Retired
Veterans Club of Vanderburgh
County.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday,
November 20, 2008, with a memorial
service at 7:30 p.m. and additional
visitation at 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Friday, at the funeral home.
