Terry W. Goerges, age 66, of Elberfeld, passed away, Thursday, September 9, 2010 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born July 20, 1944 to the late John and Mary (Ours) Goerges. He retired in 2004, after 39 years with the Whirlpool Corporation. Terry was a graduate of Elberfeld High School, served in the U.S. air Force, was a member of the American Legion, and had been a Charter member of the Elberfeld Lions Club. He loved the outdoors, riding his scooter, fishing, playing cards, laughing, being with his family and having fun with friends. Terry touched the lives of many people with his smile and outgoing personality. Terry will forever be remembered by his wife if 47 years, Maxine (Rutherford) Goerges; one daughter, Sherry (Rick) Drew; two sons, Bill (Rhonda) Goerges and Jeff Goerges; treasured grandchildren, Ashley and Celeste Drew, and Johnathan Goerges. Also surviving are a sister, Sharon Thompson, and a brother, Rick A. Goerges; along with countless other family and friends who were blessed to know him. The family would like to thank the VNA Hospice for their home care and express their heartfelt gratitude to his special nurse, friend, and sister-in-law, Lois Rutherford Tyler, for her continuous care and support. Friends may visit with the family from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday, September 12, 2010 at the Titzer Family Funeral Homes ~ Volkman Chapel, 2nd & Elm Streets, Elberfeld, IN (812) 983-4211. A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. with Rev. Terry Flowers officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date.
