Thelma Audrey Gocker, 96, of West Lafayette, Indiana died at 2:30 p.m. Saturday,
June 11, 2011, in her West Lafayette home.
Born January 6, 1915, in Princeton, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late John
and Edith Resler.
On April 3, 1936, she married Norman H. Gocker in Marion, Indiana. The love of her
life died in June of 1994. They are now hand in hand with the heavenly father that they
both loved so much.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Elberfeld, Indiana.
Mrs. Gocker enjoyed the piano, organ, and had a singing voice she shared with her
family. She owned and operated a beauty salon for many years in West Lafayette,
Indiana
Surviving are two daughters, Norma Austen (husband Darby) of Elberfeld, Indiana.
Debbie Taylor of West Lafayette, Indiana, one sister, Lee Smith of Princeton, Indiana;
four grandchildren Karen Austen, Lynchburg, Virginia, Darby Austen (wife Cindy)
Wake Forest, North Carolina, Debbie Chapman, Lynchburg, Virginia and David
Austen, Evansville, Indiana.
Also surviving are five great-grandchildren Tiffany Austen, Kyle Austen, and Sarah
Austen all of Lynchburg, Virginia, Brandi Chapman, Elberfeld, Indiana and Lauren
Searci, from Searci, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by a son, Mike Gocker, West Lafayette, Indiana, and son-
in-law, Kenneth Taylor, husband of daughter, Debbie Taylor of West Lafayette,
Indiana, three brothers Jesse, John, and Denzel Resler of Princeton, Indiana.
Services will be held at 2 p.m., on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at the First Baptist
Church, Elberfeld, Indiana, with burial in Northview Cemetery, Elberfeld. Viewing for
family and friends with be from 1 p.m. to service time at the church.
