Theresa (Wargel) Daugherty of Evansville, Ind.
Theresa Geralyn (Wargel) Daugherty was only 49 when she died at
9:10 a.m., Tuesday, August 21, 2012, at home after dealing with cancer for
3 years. She was born April 3, 1963, in Evansville.
Theresa had worked at Kmart for 20 plus years until its closing and
more recently at USI for 9 years, until July 19, 2012, when she felt it was
time to retire. Theresa received the recognition she deserved by being
named the 2010 USI employee of the year. She was a member of Good
Shepherd Catholic Church. Before the cancer she could be seen often,
almost daily, walking the loop on Evansville's Westside with her dogs.
Theresa was preceded in death by her father, Harold Wargel, and
nephew/godson, Craig Moore.
Surviving are her husband, Greg Daugherty; mother, Ermalinda
(Goedde) Wargel; siblings, Mary Jo (Gordon) Bennett, Donna (Barry)
Moore, James (Lisa) Wargel, all of Evansville, David (Carol) Wargel of
Wadesville, Linda (Bill) Keliipaakaua of Stansbury Park, UT, Ron Wargel of
St. Wendel, brother-in-law, Bob (Val) Daugherty of Evansville; nieces and
nephews, Theresa, Anne Marie, Steven, Kristi, Lisa, Leslie, Lorie, Adam,
Mindy, Amy, Eric, John, and Matt.
Thanks to Dr. Browning and staff in Evansville and Dr. Scarborough
and staff in Owensboro for helping us keep Theresa with us for the last
three years. Special thanks to the tender loving treatment with dignity by
Kari and Megan of Heritage Hospice.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, 10 a.m., Saturday, August
25, 2012, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 2301 N Stockwell Rd.,
Evansville, Ind., Rev. Zach Etienne will officiate.
Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m., Friday, at Titzer Family Funeral Homes,
Miller & Miller Colonial Chapel, 100 E. Columbia St., Evansville, Ind., (812)
424-9274. Reflections from family and friends will be shared at 6 p.m.
Additional visitation will be 9 a.m., to Mass time at Good Shepherd
Catholic Church on Saturday.
