Thomas W. Gill, age 69, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2014, surrounded by family and friends. He was born October 30, 1944, in Rockport, to Lemuel and Ella May (Lee) Gill Rogers. Tom was a 1962 graduate of Rockport High School. He retired from Big Rivers Electric Company with over 22 years of service. He enjoyed working in the yard and spending time with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed having friend and family spend time at "Uncle Tom's Cabin", which he built himself from the ground up. Dad never met a stranger and always had a smile on his face. He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church and was a active member of the Memorial Men's Group. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Karen. Sons, Tom (Kelly), Darrin, Michael (Penny), Eric (Rachelle), Jeremy; and daughter, Diane; brothers, Ronald (Evelyn), Wallace (Cindy) all of Evansville. Sisters, Dianne, Linda Russell (Carl) of Indianapolis; Sandra Mears, Brenda Bertinelly (Danny) of Evansville. Grandchildren, Michael, Michelle, Hannah, Ashley, Mary, Adyranne, Kaleigh, Kyleigh, Katelyn, Jaxson; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Tonya Gill; sister, Mary; and three brothers, Larry, Jerry, and Hank. The family would like to thank the staff at Deaconess Hospital and Hospice Center for all they did to make dad and the family comfortable and cared for them throughout his time there. A funeral service will be held 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at Memorial Baptist Church, 645 Canal St, Evansville, IN 47713, Pastor Adrian Brooks, Sr., will officiate.
