Virginia M. Toomey
Virginia M. Toomey, 88, of Newburgh,
passed away Sunday, June 15, 2008, at
Newburgh Health Care. She was born in
Evansville on May 23, 1920 to
Frederick J. and Pearl Schmitt. During WW
II she worked for Servel as a
wing inspector. Later she worked at the
Weinbach Cafeteria and retired
from P. N. Hirsch Dept. Store. She was a
member of the American Legion
Kapperman Post #44 Auxiliary, the Moose
Lodge, Newburgh Senior Citizens and
SWIRCA.
She was preceded in death by her parents;
husband, Raymond R. Toomey;
sister, Helen Koch.
Virginia is survived by two sons, Dale R.
Toomey, Sr. (Billie) of Newburgh,
Frederick B. Toomey, Sr. (Judy Ann) of
Warsaw, MO; five grandchildren, Dale
Toomey, Jr. (RoAnne) of Ft. Branch, Dana
Renee Harper (Mark) of Newburgh,
Frederick Toomey, Jr. (Angie) of Nixa, MO,
Dawn E. Phipps (Brett) of
Atlanta, GA, and Christine M. Gatschet
(Richard) of Blue Springs, MO; eight
great-grandchildren, Dalton, Morgan,
MacKnzie, Cameron, Kyle, Ryan, and
twins, William and Jacob.
Services will be held at 10 a.m.,
Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at Titzer Family
Funeral Homes ~ Simpson Chapel, 510 W.
Jennings St. Newburgh, Indiana.
Pastor Fred Toomey, Jr. will officiate. Burial
will be in Rose Hill
Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Tuesday, June 17, 2008 and
Wednesday 9 a.m. to service time at the
funeral home.
