Walter E. "Red" "Uncle Bubby" Daywalt, 93, of Elberfeld, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2020 at Bell Oaks in Newburgh. He was born in Evansville on June 26, 1926 to the late Albert and Grace (Lerke) Daywalt. He was an army Staff Sargent and earned a Purple Heart will serving during WWII from September 4, 1944 to November 1946. He was a member of VFW and American Legion.
He was a rural mail carrier for 24 years. He was a member of Kiwanis for 48 years, attended Barnett Chapel Church and lead singing for 18 years. He enjoyed square dancing and camping visiting 49 states and cruising Alaska, Hawaii and Europe.
He was married to his beloved wife of 63 1/2 years, Darlene J. (Trible) Daywalt until her death in 2011. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Roberta Morris and William "Bill" Daywalt.
Red is survived by daughters, Wendy Johnson and Lu Ann Rounder (Mike); grandchildren, Janet McAbee, Melanie Johnson, Reece Rounder (Bretta), Reed Rounder; siblings, Frank Daywalt, Ray Daywalt, Donny Daywalt, Barbara Ludwig, Stanley Daywalt, and Jeannie Plouse; great-grandchildren, Marlee, Sam, and Maria McAbee.
The family would like to thank Norma Shaw for being his companion for 7 years.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at Barnett Chapel Church in Elberfeld, IN. Burial with full military rites, conducted by Elberfeld American Legion, at Barnett Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Titzer Family Funeral Homes ~ Volkman Chapel, 210 W. Second St. Elberfeld, IN 47613 (8121) 983-4211. Additional visitation will be held on Wednesday 10 a.m. to service time at the church.
