Wendal Ray "Pops" Myers, 77, of Newburgh, passed away, Friday, January 28, 2011 at Cypress Grove Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born December 3, 1933 in Beaver Dam, KY to John and Jimmy Gertrude (Elmore) Myers. He served in the United States Navy during the 50's, stationed overseas. He was a member of the American Legion, Kapperman Post #44. He retired from Alcoa after 25 years. He liked camping at the river and hunting pecans, and enjoyed his cat, Stinker. "Pops" is survived by daughter, Janna Campbell, son, Bruce Myers, and daughter, Jennifer Myers; grandchildren, Jordan Campbell and Kaitlyn Campbell; brother, Leroy (Barbara) Myers; several nieces and nephews; long time companion, Rita Shekell and her children, Ron (Barb) Shekell and Sue (Jim) Edwards. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Wanda Lantrip; brother, Charles Myers. Services will be held at 7 p.m., Monday, January 31, 2011 at Titzer Family Funeral Homes ~ Simpson Chapel, 510 W. Jennings St. Newburgh, IN. Rev. Fr. Ted Tempel will officiate. Visitation is Monday, 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made a favorite charity. Condolences to the family may be made @www.titzerfuneralhomes.com.
