Wilbur "Bud" W. Shoultz, 89, of Newburgh, Ind., passed away peacefully, Saturday, September 14, 2013, at VNA Charlier Hospice Center. He was born November 11, 1923, in Gibson County at home to the late Guy Warner and Ada (Miley) Shoultz.
Bud was a WWII veteran who was present at the raising of the flag at Iwo Jima. He earned an Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with 2 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal and a WWII Victory Medal. He was employed for 30+ years at Industrial Contractors. Bud was a member of the VFW as well as United Brotherhood of Carpenters Union.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Irene H. (Gesselman) Shoultz; sons, James Shoultz (Fiancée, Linda Hesson), Joe Shoultz (Melanie), Jon Shoultz (Paula); 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 625 Frame Rd., Newburgh, Ind., with Military Rites. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. till Mass time at the church. Burial will be at a later date in Bates Hill Cemetery.
