Wilma Jean Hampton, 85, of Evansville, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017 at The Good Samaritan Home.  She was born on November 19, 1931 in Evansville to the late Orell L. and Forest V. (Cummans) Dannheiser.  She was a graduate of Central High School.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, John Dale Hampton; brothers, Arnold, Dale, and Ray Dannheiser. 

Wilma is survived by son, Danny Ray Hampton of Evansville; brother, John Dannheiser (Linda) of Cadiz, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Laura L. Vandiver (Craig) and Krista M. Gish (Josh); five great-grandchildren, Austin Holland, Alexa Goff, Madelynn Gish, Drake Vandiver, and Carrlee Vandiver.

Wilma worked for more than 20 years at the Evansville Psychiatric Children’s Center as a Behavioral Health Recovery attendant.  After her retirement from the Children’s Center she worked at Kokie’s in their catering business.

Wilma was a devoted, loving, and selfless mother and grandmother.  She was very proud of her family and sacrificed her needs to help and take care of them. She had a deep love and compassion for animals.  She enjoyed working with arts and crafts and loved to spend time with her family and friends. Wilma was known for her spunky sense of humor and she always lit up a room with her beautiful smile and bright blues eyes.  Everyone knew her as “Grandma Jean”.  She will be deeply missed by all that had the honor to know and love her.

A private graveside service was held at Park Lawn Cemetery.  Titzer Family Funeral Homes handling arrangements.  Condolences may be made at www.titzerfuneralhomes.com.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the Alzheimer’s Association or SWIRCA.
